π Career Well-being: DIY your LinkedIn profile optimization

Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover:
You have 7 seconds. Does your profile pass the test?
The part of leadership no one prepares you for
Is LinkedIn your "Social Battery" drain of the day?
One of the big takeaways some of my clients get with their LinkedIn profiles is this:
"Wow! I didn't know my profile needed so much work. I love how it looks now. Thank you!"
My goal is to ensure you love the profile and can speak about it, while it works in the background to ensure you are being seen by the right people.
But how about "doing it yourself?" If you want to DIY your profile, then you are in the right place. This week, I'm giving you a compilation of the best information I've compiled on how to optimize your profile this weekend.
And if you don't get the results you want, reach out to me and book a call.

π‘ You have 7 seconds. Does your profile pass the test?
If you are an introverted manager or director, the idea of "polishing" your LinkedIn profile probably feels a lot like bragging. You value humility. You want your results to speak for themselves, and the thought of shouting your accomplishments from the digital rooftops feels inauthentic.
But here is the reality of the modern job search: A recruiter is stressed, trying to find a capable leader to fill a critical gap in their organization. They aren't scrolling their newsfeed looking for loud influencers; they are using a backend search engine called LinkedIn Recruiter.
If your profile is vague or outdated, you arenβt being humble, but hard to find.
By optimizing your profile, you are providing a service to the hiring team by making it easy for them to see that you are the exact solution to their problem.
You don't need to post daily content to land your next leadership role. You just need to shift your profile from a passive "Resume Dump" to an active "Searchable Story."
β
Here are two quiet ways to start doing that today:
The 220-Character Pitch: Stop using "Current Job Title at Company" as your headline. It tells the search engine nothing about your value. Instead, use this formula: [Target Title] | [Core Expertise] | [High-Level Business Impact]. (e.g., Marketing Director | Digital Strategy | Scaling SaaS Revenue Through Data-Driven Leadership).
The "Top Two" Skills Rule: LinkedIn only displays your top two skills by default. If those slots are currently taken up by expected traits like "Microsoft Office" and "Teamwork," you are diluting your SEO. Edit your skills and manually drag your most impactful, leadership-level hard skills to the top two spots.
But how do you rewrite your "About" section without feeling like you are boasting? And how do you overhaul your profile without your current boss getting a notification?
π» The part of leadership no one prepares you for
If you missed last week's article, I discussed Mental Health for Managers & Directors: Navigating Layoffs, AI Disruption, and the Modern Job Search. Are you an introverted leader feeling completely depleted right now? Between managing leaner teams, navigating AI disruption, and the exhaustion of a modern job search... silent burnout is incredibly common. Protecting your mental health is your most vital professional asset right now. This article will give you tools to help you.
π Is LinkedIn your "Social Battery" drain of the day?
For many introverts, logging in feels like stepping into a crowded, noisy room where everyone is shouting for attention. β You can build a powerful professional presence without the "cringe" or the overwhelm. β Here are 4 introvert-friendly shifts you can make today: β β - Targeted Visibility: β You donβt need to "cold call" recruiters. Turn on "Open to Work" privately and optimize your headline with specific keywords. Let the right people find you. β β - Micro-Engagement: β Forget the pressure to post daily. Start small. Like a post, then leave a thoughtful 1-sentence comment. Sharing one helpful resource a month is better than zero posts a year. β β - Facts Over "Fluff": β Writing a profile isn't bragging if it's based on results. Focus on your data and impact. Writing in the first person makes you approachable without feeling "salesy." β β - Value over Self-Promotion: Reframe "selling yourself" as "sharing what works." When you share a lesson learned or a win for your team, youβre providing value, not just taking up space. β β Which of these feels the most doable for you right now?
